Canadian Olympic Committee
The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is committed to promoting the Olympic Movement in Canada through cultural and educational means. They offer relevant programs and resources designed to influence the development of young Canadians, to appreciate and live the Olympic Values. You can visit them at www.olympic.ca. Here are some examples of programs offered by the COC:
- Canadian Olympic School Program, presented by RBC - Learning resources for students in Grades 2 to 12, and a new website for teachers and students that provides lesson plans, athlete videos, polls, puzzles and information surrounding the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

- The Adopt an Athlete program matches Olympians and Olympic Games hopefuls with schools for a full year. Athletes visit the school 2-3 times in person and correspond by email monthly. The school hosts 2-3 fundraisers for the athletes to support their training expenses.
- The Olympic Academy of Canada (and its provincial and territorial counterparts) offers teens and adults an opportunity to discuss and debate Olympic values and issues, and to learn how they can be more effective leaders.
- Olympic Voice is a specialized resource offered by the COC for organizations to book speaking engagements, autograph sessions, interactive sport demonstrations, etc., by Olympic and Pan American athletes and Olympic hopefuls.

Launched in January 2005, Own the Podium 2010 is a national sport technical initiative designed to help Canada’s winter athletes win the most number of medals at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. - Road to Excellence is a national sport technical initiative designed to help Canada’s summer athletes achieve podium performances at the Olympic Games. The goal of Road to Excellence is for Canada to finish in the top sixteen nations at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, and in the top twelve nations at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
