VANCOUVER – Premier Gordon Campbell issued the following statement today to celebrate the silver-medal win by snowboarder and Squamish, B.C. resident Mike Robertson:
“British Columbians and all Canadians are cheering for Mike Robertson and his silver-medal snowboard cross victory today at Cypress Mountain.
“We held our collective breaths as Mike ran the race of a lifetime and seized a well-earned podium finish. It was a thrilling Olympic moment that had people across Canada cheering.
“Mike’s silver-medal performance marks Canada’s fourth Olympic medal, and the very first to be won by a B.C. athlete in these Games. This is another historic moment for the 2010 Olympic Games, and exciting time for all of Canada. Congratulations to Mike and to his many supporters and fans in Squamish.”
